Infrared Photojournalism
Near-infrared photojournalism using a self-modified hyperspectal Sony A7iii and a IRChrome filter from Kolari Vision.
Infrared light is reflected by healthy living vegetation, shown in the red channel, providing the striking hues. This is used scientifically to determine vegetation health, the contrast infrared provides allows this to be determined very clearly.
For the bushfire series, the vegetation regrowth is easily visible against the dead, burnt, vegetation.
For floods, the contrast between floodwaters (which absorb the infrared light) and vegetation (which reflect), provides a unique and important perspective in easily determining flood damage.
